Roca Tile USA

Museum Garage Panel Discussion presented by Roca USA

ROCA, a recognized global brand with more than 100 years of history in manufacturing, distributing and marketing of porcelain tile and bathroom products, will be sponsoring a night of discussion on the art and design of the Design District’s Museum Garage.

The event will take place Wednesday, October 24th, 2018 from 7p.m. to 9p.m. at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. The museum is in the heart of Miami’s Design District at 61 NE 41st Street Miami, Florida 33137.

Roca USA invites all members of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami to join them for light bites and a discussion into the art and design of the parking garage making headlines worldwide, the Museum Garage. The evening will be led by the project’s architectural curator Terence Riley, of K/R Architects, in conversation with Kevin McAlarnen.

Miami Design District’s Museum Garage features five facades, each designed individually and without knowledge of the others. Inspired by a French parlor game, Exquisite Corpse, involves a collection of images assembled by various artists with no regard or knowledge of what the other has drawn, ultimately producing one image whose components may not match but together form one lively composition.

During the project’s grand opening ceremony at the Institute of Contemporary Art, CEO of Dacra Development and the visionary behind the Miami Design District states, “Garages are the least attractive structures, and yet, you see them everywhere. We wanted to turn a parking garage into the most interesting structure in Miami.”

The Museum Garage sits adjacent to the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. The ICA Miami provides an important international platform for the work of local, emerging, and under-recognized artists. It has served as host to several panels featuring all those involved in the project. ICA’s goal is to advance the public appreciation and understanding of the most innovative art of our time, including the Miami Museum Garage. The museum is dedicated to promoting continuous experimentation in contemporary art, advancing new scholarship, and fostering the exchange of art and ideas throughout the Miami region and internationally.

Roca USA prides itself in seeking constant inspiration from architecture, interior design and art. They are excited to announce this collaboration with the Institute of Contemporary art in Miami to aid in their efforts of raising awareness and presenting unique projects that have a positive impact in their community.
